ABOUT THE CROWN
HOTEL TRARALGON
Established in 1884, the Crown Hotel Traralgon has long been a fixture of the local community. Originally built of timber, the hotel has evolved over the decades while maintaining its historic charm. In 1927, Michael Phelan became the licensee, a position he held for 30 years with the help of his son, Denis, during the later years. The Phelan legacy continued in 1979 when Michael’s grandson, Terrance, took over the license after several other holders had managed the hotel since 1957. Terry Phelan went on to purchase the freehold in 1983, solidifying the Crown Hotel’s place in Traralgon’s history.
In January 2021, Brett Neilson took ownership of the Crown Hotel, ushering in a new era for this beloved venue. The hotel closed in March 2021 for extensive renovations, led by BFN Developments, and reopened a year later as a stunning blend of modern design and historic fixtures.
Today, the Crown Hotel is a vibrant and modern pub with deep roots in its heritage. Operated by local hospitality professionals, the hotel boasts a unique menu, an inviting atmosphere, and an impressive selection of draught beers—including the unpasteurised Carlton Draught tank beer, a true highlight for beer lovers.
Whether you're enjoying a meal, catching up with friends, or celebrating a special occasion, the Crown Hotel Traralgon continues to be a proud cornerstone of the community, where history and modernity come together.
